Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5/15/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Littleshelf ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile-first web application (the "Service") at app.littleshelf.me.
By using Littleshelf, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who we are
Littleshelf is operated by Yu-tang Chneg based in Taiwan. We can be contacted at ytcheng721@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
Child profile information
You may create profiles for the children whose reading you track. This information is provided by you and may include:
- The child's first name or chosen display name
- The child's age or birth year
- Optional photos of the child taken during reading milestones
You provide this information on behalf of your child. By doing so, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have explicit permission from the child's parent or legal guardian.
Book and reading information
We collect information you log about books, including:
- Books added to your shelf
- Reading status (reading, finished)
- Reactions (loved, liked, meh, nope)
- Tags (scary level, best for, vibes)
- Comments and notes you write
- Photos uploaded for milestone cards
Friends information
If you connect with friends through Littleshelf, we record those connections so we can show shared reading activity within the Service.
Technical information
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- IP address (used briefly to provide the service; not stored long-term)
- Limited usage data (which pages you visit, what features you use)
- Cookies and similar storage (see section 7)
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Service
- Generate personalized features like milestone cards and recommendations
- Sync your data across devices
- Communicate with you about the Service
- Improve and develop new features
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show advertising in the Service.
4. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your information. We share information only as follows:
Service providers. We use third-party services to operate Littleshelf:
- Supabase (database, authentication, file storage)
- Google (sign-in via Google OAuth)
- Vercel (web hosting)
- Google Books API and Open Library (book metadata lookup only; we do not share your reading data with them)
Each of these providers processes data on our behalf and is bound by their own privacy commitments.
Friends you choose to connect with. When you invite a friend or accept an invite, that friend can see information you have chosen to make visible — your child profiles, books on your shelf, and reactions. You can stop sharing at any time by removing the friend.
Legal compliance. If required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property, we may disclose information to authorities.
5. Children's information
Littleshelf is designed for parents and guardians to track reading with children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.
When you provide information about your child, you do so as the parent or legal guardian. You consent to our collection and use of that information for the purposes described in this policy.
Children's photos uploaded to Littleshelf are stored privately and are not publicly accessible. They can only be viewed by you and friends you have specifically connected with.
If you are not the parent or legal guardian of a child whose information appears in your account, please contact us and we will remove that information.
If you believe a child under 13 has used Littleshelf directly without parental consent, contact us at ytcheng721@gmail.com and we will delete any information collected from them.
6. Data retention and deletion
We retain your information for as long as you have an active account.
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. When you delete your account:
- Your personal account information is deleted
- Your child profiles are deleted
- Your books, tags, photos, and reading logs are deleted
- Information you have shared with friends (e.g., comments on their books) may remain visible to those friends unless they delete their own data
Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period required by our service providers, then permanently deleted.
7. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and similar technologies (including localStorage and IndexedDB) to:
- Keep you signed in
- Remember your preferences
- Cache data for offline use
- Provide a smoother experience on mobile devices
We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your information:
- Access — request a copy of your information
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate information
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information
- Portability — receive your information in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ytcheng721@gmail.com.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, the UK GDPR, or CCPA respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted to and from Littleshelf uses HTTPS encryption
- Photos of children are stored in private storage with signed URLs
- Authentication is handled by Google OAuth
- Database access is restricted by row-level security policies
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

If you access the Service from another country, your information may be transferred to, processed in, and stored in countries where our service providers maintain infrastructure. By using Littleshelf, you consent to this transfer.
